The project that I had to do for assignment 3 was create
a website on any topic of my choice, and I had to include a video that I made. The video itself had to also be about what my website was about. I had to do a lot of planning for my website in order to get the correct layout I wanted, to actually make my final website I used a free website builder called Wix.com. I made my website on something I enjoy which is a Korean
boy group. When planning my website I had made a lot of changes, mainly to the layout, but when I started to use Wix I found the correct one I wanted to use. When creating my video I had used Premiere pro, I used this because its easy and quick to use, when filming my video I used a SLR camera on a tripod to get the correct height.
I personally think the project went well and am happy with the outcome of it. I especially like the individual members profile on my website, this is because it was fun to do and I think it looks nice. I also like the home page because its welcoming and looks nice as it has bright colours. The project went really smoothly as Wix was really easy to use, my favourite element was the technical side of the website because it was fun to sort out all of the links to the other pages. One thing that went wrong was the fact that I kept forgetting to save it, and so sometime it would freeze and I would loose what I just did because I had to close it down.
I think my website is good because I have a lot of different pages and different links from one page to another that work well. I don't think my website is very creative due to the fact that its only a lyric website and there are a lot of them online, however my website is different to some K-pop lyric websites because mine has the English, Korean and Romanisation for the songs were as some websites don't. My website looks quite inviting due to the fact that the colours are bright and friendly, also there isn't much on the home page and so it doesn't look overwhelming.
The advantages of adding a video to my website is that you have something of your own on the website, however a disadvantage is that you have to spend a long time doing it and so that's time your not spending working on the website as a whole. If I were to do this project again I would choose to do it on K-pop as a whole and include a lot of different groups rather than just one. Also I wouldn't do it as a lyric website but one to give facts about the different groups and idols.
I had received positive feedback for my website, Harry said "Its very colourful and its very positive". However before they said that the background wasn't very good and so I changed it to a plainer one. For my video I had received positive feedback as well, Harry said "The video could have been filmed at a more plain environment rather than outside, so you can focus on your sister more"
The file types I used were PNG this was so the image went transparent, Jpeg for compressions and better quality, and Mp4 for the video because it plays on all formats and systems. Before I made my video I had to fill out risk assessments, health and safety regulations and shot lists, this is because someone might have gotten hurt while dancing, also because having a shot list saves time. Knowing that the documents were there made me feel safer doing my video because if something happened then the documents would cover it. The different legislations I had to follow were heath and safety, computer misuse act and data protection act, the knowledge of these had made my task easier due to the fact that I knew if something went wrong the legislations would cover it for me and make it easier to fix.
